My mom was coming over and I wanted to get a drawing made before she arrived. It seemed like there was nothing interesting to draw from my garden, and that the only thing alive were the ferns. I was feeling distracted but as soon as I started drawing, I noticed how much was going on with this fern. There were so many textures, shapes and lines. I loved how furry it was, the messy outline of the leaves and the negative space between them.
